Nancy players celebrate a goal during last season's Uefa Cup campaign

West Brom are to take on top-flight French side Nancy at The Hawthorns in their only home friendly ahead of their return to the Championship.

The game will be staged on Saturday, 1 August, a week before the start of the Baggies' league campaign.

The two clubs established a link in January when striker Marc-Antoine Fortune moved to The Hawthorns on loan.

Nancy's star man is striker Youssouf Hadji, the younger brother of ex-Villa midfielder Moustapha.

Apart from that fixture, West Brom will play the remainder of their pre-season games away from home, including two matches on a short tour of Slovenia.

Their programme starts at Histon on Saturday, 11 July, followed by the Slovenian trip, then matches at Shrewsbury, Walsall, Swindon, Port Vale and Cheltenham.
