Brown hopes his team can rediscover their form at Newcastle on Wednesday
Hull boss Phil Brown says his side must become more "streetwise" in the Premier League if they are to turn around a run of just one win in thirteen games.
The 49-year-old told BBC Radio Humberside he believes that is the difference between the Tigers and the other clubs in the league.
He said: "They are streetwise and we don't know what it's like to be streetwise in the Premier League.
"I think a year and a survival campaign will make us more streetwise."
The Tigers' only win in their last thirteen games was against Middlesbrough in December and Brown believes his sides' start to the season is starting to catch up with them.
What we need to do is get back to our confident best
Hull boss Phil Brown
"I think a lot of teams in the first ten games paid us very little, if any, respect thinking we were going to be the whipping boys," he said.
Brown's comments came in the wake of a 2-0 defeat at Everton and the City boss has revealed that there were some encouraging words from the former England international Phil Neville.
"Phil came off the park at the end of the game and shook my hand and said 'you've got a good team there.' He also said 'there's no chance of you going down with that team.'
"I don't like that second comment and what we need to do is get back to our confident best and that'll take time.
"Once we get that win under our belt, hopefully at Newcastle on Wednesday, that'll come."
