Mid-season break vital for Tigers

Phil Brown
Hull's mid-season break helped Phil Brown's men win promotion

Hull City boss Phil Brown said that being able to take a mid-season break helped the Tigers' promotion bid.

Brown told BBC Look North: "We were dumped out of the FA Cup by Plymouth in early January. That allowed us to go warm weather training in Dubai.

"We got a little more fitness into the team. And, if you look at the results since then they've been magnificent."

Defender Wayne Brown agreed that the break really helped, admitting: "That did wonders for us."

Most of the players are heading away for holidays before returning for pre-season training in July ahead of the club's first season in the top flight of English football.
