Werling will need international clearance to play for Town
Huddersfield Town have signed former Barnsley left-back Dominik Werling.
The German, 26, has impressed during a trial with the club and has been become Lee Clark's first signing as manager.
Werling, who spent six months at Oakwell last season, is a free agent after being released by Erzgebirge Aue and has signed until the summer.
Clark told the club's website: "I said I wanted to bring quality players in that have performed at a higher level and Dominik certainly has."
Born in Ludwigshafen, Werling began his career at Armenia Bielefeld. He joined Barnsley on loan from Turkish side Sakaryaspor at the start of last season and made 18 starts.

Werling scored in an behind-closed-doors friendly at Blackburn Rovers last week and is expected to feature in the reserves against Doncaster Rovers this week.
Clark added: "I first came across him when he was playing for Barnsley playing against Newcastle in a Carling Cup tie.
"Barnsley put up a good show that night and he was one of their star players and I've kept an eye on his career since then.
"He's another member to add to the squad and there's competition for places.
"He's a superb athlete and very, very quick. He's very comfortable on the ball, good in the challenge and he's the overall package.
"He scored a fantastic goal last weekend at Blackburn and we're hoping more of them go in the net because the crowd behind the goal will be in trouble if not.
"He fits the criteria; I'm looking to bring in good players.
"He's got a career ahead of him, he's hungry and we're looking forward to having him here.
"He's a terrific lad and speaks very good English and he's settled in really well.
"Leicester is not too soon for him. If we can get the international clearance through we can see where he fits into the equation for that one."
