Werling in action against Newcastle in the Carling Cup |
Barnsley have hit out at the agent of full-back Dominik Werling, whose future with the club is unclear. The 23-year-old German was signed from Turkish side Sakaryspor last summer on a six-month loan deal.
The Tykes have since offered a permanent 18-month contract, in line with the original agreement.
But a club statement said: "Dominik's agent has rejected these new, vastly improved terms and reneged on the agreement in place."
Werling has made 18 league and cup appearances for Barnsley this season, but has not played in the last four games, and there have been rumours that he could be set to move to another Championship team.
However, Ipswich boss Jim Magilton insisted that he was not interested in the German.
"The lad played well at our place, but it's all paper talk," he told Ipswich's website.
"His agent rung us and asked if we would be interested. That is all. We have not made an enquiry about him."
