Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies has been put on standby for England under-19s' European qualifiers next month.

England are in Belfast for two weeks from 2 October for their European Championship qualifiers against Northern Ireland, Albania and Serbia.

Smithies, 18, has been capped once at under-18 level for England and ten times for the under-17s.

He has made one first-team start and one substitute appearance for Town.
