Huddersfield Town striker Andy Booth has been ruled out of action until early next year.
The 34-year-old has only made four appearances this season due to a back injury which now requires surgery.
Town boss Stan Ternent told BBC Radio Leeds: "He will have the operation on Tuesday in Croydon."
"We will be without him until January, if everything goes well. It's a blow because we need him and I'm hopeful the operation will be a success."
Despite Booth's injury problems he had hit top form under Ternent's management, scoring two goals in four matches.
"Boothy was meant to have this operation on Tuesday just gone," Ternant added.
"However the chap going to do it was out walking, fell over and broke his leg.
"So he is out of action for six weeks and so has recommended an expert in Croydon for the operation instead."
BBC Radio Leeds 92.4 FM has full match commentary of Huddersfield Town v Bristol Rovers with Paul Ogden and Kieran O'Regan from 1400 BST.
