Barker now plays for Histon's local rivals Cambridge City
Former Histon midfielder Jamie Barker has admitted he is concerned for the future of the club following the sacking of manager Steve Fallon.
Fallon was relieved of his position on Tuesday night after more than a decade at the Glass World Stadium.
Barker told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "In losing Steve Fallon, you lose all the people down the pub, all the kids at the schools and it's a real shame.
"Steve has so much influence in Histon that it's bound to hit their support."
The 30-year-old was one of four players allowed to leave the club after Fallon was suspended in December following a disagreement with the board over trimming the wage bill.
He subsequently signed for Histon's local rivals Cambridge City along with team-mate John Kennedy.
Fallon and Roach met for talks over Christmas and finally appeared to have reached a resolution on Sunday with the former Cambridge United star returning to the club.
However Fallon lasted less than three days back at the Glass World before being permanently sacked.
"I'm not surprised given the way it's all carried on over the past few weeks," Barker said.
"In fact I was more surprised that Steve came back and managed to work something out with Tony."
Roach succeeded Gareth Baldwin as Histon chairman in October and initially handed Fallon his full backing, but their relationship appeared to quickly sour.
Alan Lewer was handed temporary charge whilst Fallon was suspended, but has managed the side for just one match owing to the freezing weather.
Barker says the playing staff will be feeling increasingly disillusioned.
"I've had a word with [captain] Matt Langston and he's trying to do all he can, but I would guess the players don't know which way to turn," he said.
"I think they will find it difficult to hold onto some of the players who were thinking of going anyway.
"They could try and bring new players into the club, but it isn't very tempting at the moment."
