Histon manager Steve Fallon says the club are close to bringing a new striker to the Glass World Stadium.
It is understood that the striker is not the unnamed League Two player whom the Stutes were previously reported to have been targeting.
Fallon told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We're very close to signing a new striker. He should be with us in time for Saturday.
"It will be announced as soon as the papers are signed."
Fallon will be anxious to add to his forward options as soon as possible after watching his side draw a blank at Kidderminster on Tuesday.
The Stutes missed a number of chances as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat Aggborough.
"We battered them in the second half, but we weren't good enough in the box," he said.
"We dominated and were caught in stoppage time on the break."
