Mitchel-King was a virtual ever present for Histon last season
Histon have appointed defender Mat Mitchel-King as their captain for the new season.
Mitchel-King, 24, takes over the role from experienced midfielder Neil Andrews, who becomes club captain.
"It's a privilege and an honour, it's something I've been looking for since I got to Histon," Mitchel-King told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"I'm quite a natural leader so I'm happy the chairman and manager think I can do a job for them."
Mitchel-King joined Histon from local rivals Mildenhall back in 2005 where he was captain for two seasons.
The commanding centre-back is keen to see the Stutes improve of their seventh place finish in the Blue Square Premier last season, but is urging caution ahead of the new campaign.
"We want to get out of this league as fast as we can, but we won't be getting ahead of ourselves," he added.
"If we do finish below seventh this season it wouldn't be a disaster."
Meanwhile, right-back Lanre Oyebanjo has been invited to try out for the Ireland Under-19s squad for next summer's European Championships.
