Hereford United manager John Trewick says he is trying to sort out the contact of midfielder Kenny Lunt after he was left out against Macclesfield.
It is believed that if Lunt, 30, plays another game it would trigger a clause in his contract that would keep him at Edgar Street for another season.
"There is a situation with Kenny Lunt," Bulls boss Trewick confirmed to BBC Hereford & Worcester.
"It's a contractual situation which needs to be resolved."
He continued: "We spoke on Thursday and Friday and I'll be speaking again to Kenny on Monday and we'll see if we can resolve it."
Former Crewe Alexandra stalwart Lunt, who joined the Bulls from Sheffield Wednesday last summer, was the team captain at the start of the campaign.
He has made 30 appearances in the league for United this season - and 37 in total.
