Hereford United have signed teenage goalkeeper Nick Jordan following his release by Premier League Portsmouth.
Last season's first-choice keeper Wayne Brown left the promoted Bulls in June to return to League Two with Bury.
Meanwhile, it looks as if the Bulls will miss out on the signing of striker Garry Hooper from Southend United.
Cheltenham are understood to be hoping to set up a swap deal with Southend for Robins striker Steven Gillespie - and Hooper is now considering his options.
Hooper, 30, who scored 11 league goals while on loan at Edgar Street last season, also held talks with Scunthorpe earlier in the week.
As for Jordan, 18, he had a trial at Exeter City after being released in March by Pompey, for whom he almost headlines soon after joining them two summers ago.
After signing a two-year scholarship at Fratton Park, he found himself on the first-team bench as deputy to England's David James when the club faced a goalkeeping crisis.
At 16, he would have been Pompey's youngest-ever player had he been used in the game with Blackburn on the first day of the season at Fratton Park in August 2006, but he did not get on the field.
