Hartlepool United boss explains Poole loan end

James Poole
Poole is yet to make an appearance for the Manchester City first team

Hartlepool coach Mick Wadsworth says a lack of guaranteed first-team football was behind his decision to allow James Poole to return to Manchester City.

The 20-year-old forward joined Pools on loan from the Premier League side in November, making six appearances and scoring one goal.

"It's not fair to keep him here when we can't promise him regular games," Wadsworth told the club website.

"We'd like to thank Manchester City for allowing James to come here."

Wadsworth added: "We've enjoyed having James at the club, he's a really good pro and has settled in really well with the rest of the boys.

"We wish him all the best for his future career."

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has also been allowed to return to his parent club.
