Hartlepool boss Turner praises league competitiveness
Turner believes his side been competitive in League One this season
Hartlepool sport director Chris Turner believes his side can take credit for their efforts given the calibre of teams in League One this season.
Pools are in a division with Norwich, Leeds, Charlton and Southampton and Turner has been pleased to see the club pull clear of danger in recent games.
"This has been the hardest League One division in recent history," Turner told BBC Tees.
"We've won three of four matches at a crucial time of the season."
Pools are currently seven points off the relegation places following their 3-0 defeat of Stockport on Tuesday, with four games left to play.
"I've said to the players we don't want to look at the other results, but it's nice to look at the other results when you've recorded a win," Turner said.
"If we can get three points at Colchester on Saturday and then win one of the next three games then we will finish in a tidy position."
Midfielder Joe Gamble scored against Stockport and Turner feels he is tired after playing for Cork from March until November, before joining Pools in January.
"Joe's come in and made a fantastic impression in his early performances," Turner revealed.
"But he's played a lot of football in the last 12 months and sometimes it has showed a bit."
