Strikers can fire Pools - Turner

Hartlepool United director of sport Chris Turner believes he has the necessary firepower to compete in League One this season.

Pools have Denis Behan, Armann Bjornsson, Adam Boyd, James Brown and Colin Larkin to choose from, a line-up Turner believes can make a difference.

"Your team is as good as your strikers," Turner told BBC Tees.

"You can't win games without strikers, and we've got five strikers at the club who can score goals."

Pools reacted well to the loss of influential Australian striker Joel Porter during the summer with the signings of Behan, Bjornsson, Boyd and Larkin, while the return from injury of James Brown is also a boost.

Meanwhile, with the loan window now open, clubs in the Football League and Football Conference are beginning to look at potential signings.

But Turner has ruled out further additions for the time being, unless a special player comes onto the radar.

"We will look at players, out-of-contract players in our reserves if required, but we're happy with our squad.

"What we'll do is just monitor situations, and if there's someone we really think is value for money and we can utilise and improve then we'll bring them in.

"At the moment though we're happy with what we've got."
