Grimsby Town has started to hold interviews from a shortlist of six for the vacant manager's position following Mike Newell's departure.
Youth team coach Neil Woods has been acting in a caretaker role since Newell left four weeks ago.
"The six will be interviewed between Monday and Friday," chairman John Fenty told the club's website.
But among the favourites to get the position is ex-Mariners boss Russell Slade, who has just left Brighton.
Slade managed Grimsby between May 2004 and May 2006.
Former Hull City star Dean Windass has also let his name go forward as he seeks his first management role since retiring from football last month.
