Grimsby Town boss Mike Newell was hit with another blow after midfielder Nathan Jarman suffered a broken foot.
It comes straight after the news that another of his key players, Adam Proudlock, will be out-of-action for a month with ankle ligament damage.
Newell has conceded that injuries to leading players has contributed to the side being third-bottom of the table.
He told BBC Look North: "This season it's taken us a little bit longer to get going that I would have liked."
Newell pointed to a good pre-season which was then followed by a catalogue of injury problems.
He said: "We were hit with four players, who would have started the season, after a week or two were out."
Newell said he was keen to move into the loan market to boost his ailing squad.
