O'Brien is enjoying her best year but could not trouble Wozniacki |
British number three Katie O'Brien is out of the Japan Open after a crushing 6-0 6-1 second-round defeat by top seed Caroline Wozniacki in Osaka. O'Brien, 23, reached a career high of 94 in the world rankings after reaching the Tokyo ITF event semis last week. But the Hull-born player was outclassed by world number six Wozniacki, with the Dane sealing victory in 44 minutes. The US Open finalist goes on to face Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada in the quarter-finals. O'Brien had beaten world number 111 Alexa Glatch of the USA in the first round but came up well short against Wozniacki. "I didn't do myself justice today, but I was outclassed to be fair," O'Brien said on her Twitter page. "There's plenty to work on!"
