Strikers Danny North and Peter Bore have been allowed to speak to other clubs by Grimsby manager Mike Newell.
The pair have only appeared occasionally in the first team for the club this season.
Newell told BBC Look North: "The football club has a history of looking after people here.
"I don't want them to be happy, I want them to be hungry so if it's better for them to further their career elsewhere then that has to happen."
Both players have come through the Grimsby Town academy system but have failed to cement their places in the first team.
They have found their paths blocked by more recently arrived players like Adam Proudlock, Barrie Conlan and Adrian Forbes.
