Atkinson played for Grimsby in last season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy final

Grimsby Town have made their second loan signing in two days by recruiting Barnsley defender Rob Atkinson.

The 21-year-old, who also had a spell at Blundell Park last season, will stay with the Mariners until the beginning of January.

Atkinson, who could make his debut against Darlington on Saturday, has been given permission to play for Grimsby in the FA Cup.

His arrival follows the capture of Jean Paul Kalala from Oldham on Thursday.
