Watkiss keen to take Grimsby role

Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town's caretaker manager Stuart Watkiss says he would welcome the chance to take the job full time.

Watkiss takes charge of the club for the first time since Alan Buckley's surprise departure when the Mariners play Morecambe on Saturday.

He told BBC Look North: "You never know when you're going to get a chance to manage a Football League club."

Watkiss, who has managed Mansfield and Kidderminster in the past, added: "These jobs are like gold dust."

Sources close to the club said they have received more than 50 expressions of interest in the vacant job.
