Grimsby Town have signed defenders Matt Heywood from Brentford and Richard Hope from Wrexham, both on two-year deals.

The 28-year-old Heywood has previously played for Burnley, Swindon and Bristol City.

Hope, 30, started his career in the Blackburn youth set-up, before spells with Darlington, Chester City, Shrewsbury and Wrexham.

The pair join a third defender, Robbie Stockdale, signed this month having been released by Tranmere Rovers.
