Hollingsworth has revealed the club's fears about their future

Premier League side Scunthorpe Scorpions fear they may have to close if vandalism continues at the stadium.

In recent weeks thieves have broken into containers containing bikes and targeted the area containing the club's generating plant.

Club official Richard Hollingsworth told BBC Look North: "They bring in welding gear, cut everything up and sell it for scrap.

"How do you progress and build with this hanging over you?"

Scunthorpe supporter Paul Duff is desperate for the club to survive after the sport returned to the town in 2005 following a 20-year absence.

He said: "We went into the Premier League which is great but that's being put in jeopardy by the vandals.

"The club hope the culprits can be caught and they can continue to race in peace."
