Attendances at Blundell Park have been below budget this season |
Grimsby chairman John Fenty has said the club are facing financial problems. In a statement, Fenty said: "The club requires a substantial financial injection within the next two months, in excess of 200,000, to pay its way.
"So far home attendances have been below budget and if this continues even that money will not be enough to see us through to the end of the season."
"We also have approximately 350,000 to find over the next two years to pay off the tax debt baggage from the past."
Fenty said that he had invested a "king's ransom" in the club and would welcome help to share the financial burden.
He appealed for fresh investors but stressed that a successful future is dependent on leaving Blundell Park and moving to a new ground.
Fenty added: "Sustainability will only come from a relocation.
"Grimsby Town's plans to relocate are vital to its survival and are the only hope of attracting short-term bridging investment, helping to give the club a long-term future."
The Mariners received outline planning permission for a new ground at Great Coates on 25 January.
In the meantime, Fenty has pledged to continue to support manager Alan Buckley and the pursuit of new players.
