Grays Athletic boss Wayne Burnett says he only wants players who have the desire to turn around their season.
The Blues are 22nd in the Blue Square Premier table after their latest away defeat to Rushden & Diamonds.
Burnett told BBC Essex:"If these players haven't got the character, they won't be here, it's very, very simple.
"I've asked them 'Have you got it in you? Are you good enough? Have you got what it takes?' and they are the only ones that can answer those questions."
He added: "You have to compete and have a hunger that's so deep inside that it means everything to you and that's what I want to see."
I'm tired of people saying we're too good to be in this position, we are in this position

The Essex side have yet to pick up any points away from home this season, a fact that Burnett says stems from their inability to score goals away from the New Recreation Ground.
"I'm tired of people saying we're too good to be in this position, we are in this position," he said.
"We have to start winning and we need to create more goal-scoring opportunities but reflecting back, are we good enough, no we're not."
