Ebbsfleet United midfielder Danny Slatter has said he is hoping to regain a first-team place following a long-term injury.

The 27-year-old spent much of last season on crutches after seriously damaging his knee.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "It's brilliant, I've worked hard over the summer and had a good pre-season.

"I want to be involved, the team is doing really well and I just want to get back in that team."

Slatter added: "I've got my fitness back and lost the bit of weight I was carrying after being out for eleven months, it's gone really well, (manager) Liam Daish is pleased, I'm pleased, everyone is pleased."

The former Chelsea trainee, who joined captain Paul McCarthy to pick up the FA Trophy at Wembley in May, has been at the Fleet for three years since joining from Welling in June 2005 and has made 82 starts for the club scoring four times.
