Gillingham have signed Chris Whelpdale and Charlie Lee on month-long loans from League One side Peterborough.
Lee, 23, who can play centre-back or left-back, has struggled to be a regular member of Gary Johnson's side.
Winger Whelpdale, 21, has been loaned to Gills to regain match fitness following an injury.
Gillingham, who had just 10 fully fit players, have now made three signings this week following the capture of Swindon defender Callum Kennedy.
John Nutter and Danny Spiller are each serving a one match ban against Crewe, and defenders Simon King, Garry Richards and Danny Jackman are all yet to feature so far this season due to injury.
The Gills have lost their last three games including Saturday's FA Cup tie to Kent neighbours non-league Dover Athletic.
