Gillingham's top scorer Simeon Jackson has been called into the Canada senior squad for the Gold Cup.
It means he will miss nearly all the Gills' pre-season campaign, but he will be back for the start of the season.
Jackson, 22, scored on his one and only appearance for the full Canadian side but it was clearly enough to impress manager Stephen Hart.
He scored 21 goals last season, including the winner in the League Two play-off final against Shrewsbury.
Jackson, who was born in Jamaica, lived in Canada until he was 15.
The Concacaf Gold Cup is the North American continental championship.
Canada start their campaign against Jamaica in Los Angeles on 3 July, before playing El Salvador on 7 July, and Costa Rica on 10 July.
