Gills sign Ipswich winger Peters

Jaime Peters
Peters has 15 senior international caps for Canada

Gillingham have signed Ipswich Town's Jaime Peters on loan.

The 21-year-old winger has made 28 starts for Ipswich, but has not played for the first team in over a year.

Peters spent time on loan with Yeovil Town last season, making 14 appearances, including their goalless draw at Priestfield in League One.

"It's important we get our young players out on loan and playing games every week," Ipswich boss Jim Magilton told the club's official website.

Peters has already been a team-mate of Gills' top-scorer Simeon Jackson. The pair played together in Canada's Under-20 side.

Gillingham have also completed the loan signing of Arsenal left-back Rene Steer. The 18-year-old played as a triallist in Gills' reserve game against Brighton.

Both players have signed on an initial one-month loan with an option for the deal to be extended should it suit both parties.

In addition, Gillingham striker Andy Pugh has agreed a one-month loan with Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic.
