Fuller took over the captaincy from Andrew Crofts this season
Gillingham captain Barry Fuller says the side need to put their forthcoming FA Cup tie with Aston Villa to one side and focus on promotion.
The League Two side beat Stockport to set up a home FA Cup third round tie against the Premier League outfit.
But Fuller, 24, told BBC Radio Kent: "We've just got to put Villa behind us.
"At the start of the season, if you offered us the league or the FA Cup, we would have taken the league - that's our main priority."
He added: "We'll try our best to put Villa out of our minds. It's always there but we're big enough players to know the league form is most important now.
"We've got some big games over Christmas against some big sides in and around us.
"If we pick up some points there we're right up the top of the league and full of confidence when we take on Villa."
