Clarke made just one substitute appearance at Gateshead
Gateshead have released former Lincoln City midfielder Shane Clarke after his month-long deal came to an end.
Clarke, 23, came to Tyneside after submitting a CV to boss Ian Bogie, but failed to impress during his spell.
"Clarke did not do enough during his month on Tyneside to convince me that he would strengthen the squad," Bogie told the club website.
"With [Ashley] Winn coming in we now have four central midfield players again and genuine competition."
The Lincoln-born utility man, who made four reserve team appearances and one substitute appearance for the first team, was released by his hometown club Lincoln City in August.
During his time at Sincil Bank Clarke made 73 appearances in three-and-a-half years.
Meanwhile striker Jonny Allan is due to return to training this week following a long standing knee problem.
The 27-year-old's last appearance for Gateshead came away at Barrow in September.
