Gateshead assistant boss Terry Mitchell has moved to reassure the club's supporters that they are trying to bring in some new players.
The Tynesiders had hoped to announce a brace of new signings this week but Mitchell revealed difficulties in completing the deals.
"Unfortunately we've hit a stumbling block," Mitchell told BBC Newcastle.
"We went to a couple of Football League clubs who agreed to send the players but the players wouldn't come to us."
Mitchell added: "We had a couple of experienced players lined up but they wouldn't come, so it's really frustrating.
