Gateshead manager Ian Bogie is eager to add goalkeeping cover to his squad ahead of the new Blue Square Bet Premier season.
Bogie has approached Mikhael Jaimez-Ruez, released by Aldershot at the end of last season, and former Huddersfield keeper Matt Glennon.
Bogie, who wants competition for Paul Farman, said: "We are waiting to see if Ruez is interested in joining.
"Glennon is still hoping to get fixed up with another Football League club."
Venezuelan Ruez, 26, was expected to return to South America after his release by Aldershot, but changed his mind after the Gateshead approach.
Glennon, 31, lists Carlisle and Hull among his former clubs, and spent more than three years with Huddersfield after joining them in June 2006.
In January he left the Terriers for Bradford where he made 17 appearances before being released at the end of the season.
Bogie has also taken a look at Jack Binks, who was at Charlton last season, and former Hartlepool keeper Mark Cook.
