Brittain has played in the Premier League and Uefa Cup
Blue Square Premier newcomers Gateshead have signed former Newcastle United winger Martin Brittain.
The 24-year-old, who played eight times for the Magpies, was released by Kidderminster this summer after four goals in 44 games last season.
Manager Ian Bogie told the club website: "It's a really good signing. He had a solid season at Kidderminster.
"He is a local lad. He is at the right age and will be keen to make an impression at Gateshead."
Brittain has also played for Ipswich, Yeovil, Carlisle and Walsall.
Bogie also revealed that the Blue Square North play-off winners are in negotiations with an experienced Football League striker and Whitley Bay striker Lee Kerr.
He said: "We won't be held to ransom or get involved in an auction [for Kerr], and if it doesn't come off we'll move on."
