Forest Green seek new investors

Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers are looking to raise £100,000 by attracting new shareholders to the club.

The Blue Square Premier outfit is to change its status from a limited company by guarantees of members to a limited company by shareholding.

That allows it to create new shares in a bid to attract fresh funds.

Club spokesman Colin Peake said: "Through the issuing of shares, the club seek to bring in £100,000 of new money and investment possibilities."

He added: "Ever since the club was formed in 1889, by a local minister, individuals have played a tremendous part in driving the club to its present position.

"We have a first-class stadium and undoubtedly facilities for the community around us that are second to none.

"This latest change is part of the whole process of the club being in the best financial position it can be for the future and what may lie ahead over the horizon for us all, let alone the football club."

The Football Association, Football Conference and Gloucestershire FA have all approved the club's change of structure which will take place on 1 November.

Full details will be outlined to the current limited company's 38 members on Thursday.
