Former Forest Green player-coach Jerry Gill has revealed that he has applied to succeed sacked Jim Harvey as boss.
"I was at Forest Green last season and thoroughly enjoyed my job there," Gill, 38, told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
"I feel like I'm ready to move into management. I did my coaching badges in the summer and want to give it a real good go, if given the opportunity."
Current player-coach David Brown is in temporary charge at the New Lawn, with Colin Walker brought in to help him.
Rovers confirmed Harvey's dismissal for an alleged serious breach of contract - which Harvey denies - on 21 August.
If you've got a good work ethic... that can get results

The club announced on the same day that its directors were inviting applications from potential managers, but added that Brown was being "extended the opportunity to continue in charge of first team matters".
Forest Green have lost all five of their opening games in the Blue Square Premier this season, but it is a situation that Gill can still be turned around.
"There's a long long way to go in the season," the unattached defender said.
"People get het up with budgets and how much players are being paid, but I think if you've got a good work ethic, your players are willing to do the work and you're willing to do the work that can get results."
"The way the trend's going at the moment, they're looking for fresh enthusiastic managers and coaches that are willing to do the work and put the hours in on the training ground - that's something that I always did as a player and I'd do as a coach a manager."
