Stansfield joined Exeter on a free transfer from Hereford in 2006
Exeter City striker Adam Stansfield has said he is thriving on the opportunity to play against the big name clubs in League One.
Three seasons ago Stansfield was part of the City side that were plying their trade in the Conference.
Stansfield told BBC Radio Devon: "You thrive on playing these big clubs."
"Three years ago we were playing against teams like Farsley Celtic and now we're going to Southampton on New Years Day," he added.
The Grecians travel to London on Saturday to take on second-placed Charlton Athletic, who are yet to lose in the league this season.
And the match will give Stansfield his first opportunity to taste action against a former Premier League side, as he was out injured for the early games against Leeds and Norwich City.
"It's definitely going to be a very enjoyable day," said the 31-year-old striker.
"The bigger the grounds, the bigger the crowds the more enthusiastic you are to get out there and you up your game.
"But we're not going there just to turn up and enjoy it, we're going there to minimum get a point and hopefully come away with a win."
