Charlton claimed their seventh win of the season after goals from captain Nick Bailey and Izale McLeod earned victory against struggling Exeter.
Bailey gave his side the lead after finding the net from close range following Lloyd Sam's pass.
Troy Archibald-Henville, on loan from Spurs, headed over for Exeter before Oscar Jansson's fumble from a cross then allowed McLeod to make it 2-0.
Bertrand Cozic headed a late goal for visiting Exeter, but Charlton held on.
Charlton striker Izale McLeod told BBC London 94.9:
"It's a big relief to be honest. Not just to get off the mark for this season but my first goal at home as a Charlton player, so really pleased and looking forward to getting more goals.
"When Jonjo [Shelvey] crossed it I was kicking myself for not getting across but it turned out I didn't need to.
"The keeper parried to me and I just had to finish it. To be honest I've missed chances like that in training so it was important I concentrated and put it in the back of the net which I did so I'm really pleased."
