Ronny Goodlass says Dan Gosling will come back stronger
Gosling had scored three goals in 20 appearances for Everton this season
Former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass says he hopes midfielder Dan Gosling will remain positive despite missing nine months of football.
Gosling ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in their 0-0 with Wolves.
BBC Radio Merseyside's Everton match day summariser said: "It's terrible news because of the progress he's made this year, it's been tremendous.
"Hopefully Dan will take it positively. He's going to get the best treatment and come back fitter and stronger."
Gosling, 20, has become the third Everton player to suffer the problem in the past 12 months, with Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka picking up ACL injuries last season.
Goodlass says Gosling is seeing the negative side of the game, after playing some of his best football for the club this season.
"It's the highs and lows of football," Goodlass continued. "He scores a tremendous goal against Manchester United, and a couple of weeks later this happens.
"For a young player it really is bad news but Everton have got the best treatment available and they'll know how to bring him back as quickly as possible.
"You were looking for a good end to the season for him. But I think everyone will wish his a very speedy recovery."
