Yobo's contract has been unsigned for 12 months |
Everton defender Joseph Yobo has confirmed he will sign his new contract by the end of the week. While Yobo, 25, has stalled on signing the four-year deal, Everton have signed Joleon Lescott from Wolves and given David Weir a new one-year deal.
The Nigerian international told the Daily Post: "I had made up my mind to stay long before the end of the season.
"It wasn't about money, I just wanted certain commitments and I can confirm I'm going to sign a new contract."
Yobo's 12-month delay in signing his new deal gave rise to speculation he could be a summer transfer target, with Arsenal believed to be among those interested.
"Everton are a big club and we should reasonably be challenging for a place in Europe every season," added Yobo.
"I see now the club also share those ambitions and some quality players are coming in."
The Toffees returned to training on Monday and will travel to the West Country for a pre-season training camp.
