Ebbsfleet United manager Liam Daish hopes two of his former players can help keep the Fleet in the hunt for survival going into the final day.

If Gateshead beat Stevenage, who have former Fleet duo Stacy Long and Michael Bostwick, on Tuesday, then the Fleet will be relegated to Blue Square South.

"We've got connections with a couple of players there. I think they'll help us out," Daish told BBC Radio Kent.

"They're good pros - all the lads at Stevenage are good pros."

Despite having nothing to play for after wrapping up the league title with victory over Kidderminster, Daish is confident that Stevenage will still give it their all.

We'll give the lads a couple of days off and then they can look forward to being part of the emotion of everything on the last day of the season

"I know their players, they've got a good squad of good players. There will also be FA Trophy final places to play for.

"There's a lot for them to play for because they'll maybe be thinking about being league players as well."

Ebbsfleet's win over Gateshead on Saturday means they still a have a chance of keeping their Blue Square Premier status, but only if they beat Tamworth in their final game of the season, Gateshead fail to win either of their two remaining games and Eastbourne fail to beat Oxford.

"We'll give the lads a couple of days off and then they can look forward to being part of the emotion of everything on the last day of the season," said Daish.

This was a massive win which has given the side renewed confidence

Ebbsfleet midfielder Alex Stavrinou

"We're not dead and buried."

Fleet midfielder Alex Stavrinou scored his first goal for the club in the Gateshead win.

The 19-year-old is a Cyprus Under-21 international and on loan from Charlton.

He said: "It was a big relief for me because I'm overdue a goal. We can still stay up.

"Ricky Shakes had the ball and I wasn't sure if he would pass to me. I was delighted when he did and I was determined not to miss.

"This was a massive win which has given the side renewed confidence. But, personally, I don't think we should be in the position we're in.

"I'm just so pleased that Ebbsfleet gave given me the chance to play regular first team football."
