Daish demands Ebbsfleet progress

Budget cuts have left Daish having to build his side from scratch this season

Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish says the club must now pursue success on the pitch after securing its long-term future.

Gravesham Borough Council this week bought Fleet's Stonebridge Road ground to guarantee the club's continued presence there.

The council's move prevented the ground going up for auction next week.

Daish told BBC Radio Kent: "I'm really pleased for the club, but the priority is on the pitch, getting to mid-table and pushing on from there."

The council will charge Ebbsfleet a peppercorn rent of £1 a year for use of the stadium.

That is a welcome boost for a club which has struggled to provide Daish with money to strengthen his squad this season.

"I'm working as hard as I can. The pressure you're under is mainly what you bring on yourself," he added.

"It's good experience for me. I'm under financial restraints, I might have to release money in other parts of the team to bring new players in."
