Two goals from midfielder Bradley Johnson paved the way for a comprehensive win over Gillingham that moved Leeds to the top of League One.
Johnson headed his first from a Robert Snodgrass corner before slotting home his second at the near post.
Jonathan Howson chested down and fired home to make it three before Andy Barcham pulled one back for the Gills.
Jermaine Beckford followed up a Michael Doyle shot that hit Gillingham's crossbar to complete the scoring.
Leeds United boss Simon Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds:
"We have set ourselves very high standards so far this season.
"But we want to keep making them better as both individuals and as a squad.
"We want to keep our good run going and to do that we need to keep our standards very high and not take our foot off the gas and we certainly kept pushing today.

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson told BBC Radio Kent:
"Unfortunately we bumped into the best team we have played by a long way in Leeds.
"We gave it our best shot but we came up against a real strong proper football team in this division.
"We've got beat, we're disappointed, but I hope we don't come up against many teams like Leeds."
