Wiles had made only two starts for the Pars before suffering injury
Dunfermline Athletic have given midfielder Simon Wiles until the end of August to prove his fitness and win a new, longer-term contract.
The 24-year-old Englishman has not played for the First Division club since suffering a micro fracture to his right thigh bone in November.
Wiles had joined Dunfermline after leaving Blackpool last summer.
And he told the Pars' website: "Hopefully, I can get a good pre-season under my belt and crack on from there."
Wiles, who has been given a short-term contract until 28 August, made only two starts for Dunfermline and came on as a substitute 10 times before suffering his injury.
Kevin Harper suffered an injury in the same match that limited Wiles' fellow right-winger to three more games for the Pars before being released at the end of the season.
Now Wiles is hoping that he can recover from surgery in time to make the position his own next season.
