Dundee United face a defensive crisis for their cup tie

Dundee United injury concern Andy Webster
Webster hopes his calf injury will heal in time for the Cup semi-final

Dundee United face a defensive injury crisis ahead of Sunday's Active Nation Scottish Cup semi-final against Raith.

Captain Andy Webster limped out of the win over St Johnstone on Easter Monday with a recurrence of a calf injury that has troubled him since January.

United are already without suspended Garry Kenneth, while Mihael Kovacevic is still suffering from a hamstring strain he picked up two weeks ago.

The club recently announced that injury had forced Lee Wilkie, 29, to retire.

Webster spoke to BBC Scotland about his calf injury after United's 1-0 victory against the Perth Saints on Monday night.

"It has been tight since Wednesday but it wasn't getting any easier so I didn't want to take any unnecessary risks with it," he said.

"I'll wait and see what the physio says and take it from there. Hopefully it will settle down."
