Waghorn has scored three goals in 11 starts for Leicester this term

Leicester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson says an injury to Darius Vassell may scupper Derby County's hopes of signing out-of-favour striker Martyn Waghorn.

The Rams were confident of wrapping up a loan deal for the 20-year-old forward on Wednesday.

But Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester: "As long as Darius is injured we will not let Martyn go anywhere - on loan, to sell or whatever.

"First of all I want to see Darius fit and he might be fit on Saturday."

Vassell missed Leicester's 4-2 FA Cup defeat at Manchester City on Tuesday with a hamstring injury, a game in which Wagorn played the final 22 minutes.

Waghorn only joined the Foxes on a permanent deal from Sunderland in August but has failed to win a regular place since Eriksson took over as boss in October.

He has only started 11 games this season and is thought to be keen go out on loan as he is eager to play regularly.
