Derby County manager Nigel Clough says he wants to see striker Shefki Kuqi back at Pride Park in the new year.
The 33-year-old's current loan deal from parent club Swansea City expires after the Rams' Championship game at Bristol City in mid December.
Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "We will talk with Swansea and with Shefki to see if something can be sorted for him to return in January.
"We don't have anyone else like Shefki in our squad."
The Finland international has so far scored one goal in four appearances for the Pride Park club.
