Clough faces his former club Nottingham Forest on Friday
Derby boss Nigel Clough hopes his side will have enough recovery time before Friday's fourth round FA Cup tie with rivals Nottingham Forest at Pride Park.
The Rams are preparing for the clash after losing to Manchester United in the League Cup semi-final on Tuesday.
Clough told BBC East Midlands Today: "Fitness-wise the game at Old Trafford just takes it out of us.
"It's not ideal when you're playing three days later and Forest have had their feet up all week."
Clough added: "We put everything into Tuesday's match.
"It's a big stage and as well as physically it takes it out of you emotionally to play in front of 70,000 people."
The former Burton manager admitted he did have a few injury worries ahead of Friday night's clash.
"Andy Todd strained a hamstring at Manchester United, so he'll be struggling for Friday evening as will Steve Davies who's got a very slight groin strain," said Clough.
"Kris Commons had two or three stitches in a small gash on his shin but should be ok if needed and selected."
