Wilson revealed as Derby investor

Derby County

Canadian entrepreneur W Brett Wilson has been revealed as a major investor in Derby County.

He is part of the international consortium that owns the Rams.

The 51-year-old is one of Canada's leading business figures and the owner of an American Southern League baseball team, the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.

But he has become best known in his home country for his role on the Canadian version of the Dragons' Den television programme.

Derby chairman Andy Appleby told the club's website he hoped Wilson would help raise the club's profile overseas.

"His role on Dragons' Den, which is one of the most popular programmes in Canada, will give Brett a fantastic platform to promote our club in his home country," he said.

Wilson added: "I am very proud to be a part of Derby County and I want to use my profile in Canada to promote the club whenever possible.

"As a Saskatchewan boy I know that fan commitment can run pretty deep but I was blown away by the level of community and corporate support that the Rams enjoy."
