Derby County manager Paul Jewell says he is optimistic about his future at the club despite the fact they have not won a league game for almost a year.

The Rams last tasted victory in the league with a 1-0 victory over Newcastle at home on 17 September 2007.

Jewell told BBC Radio Derby: "I'm not comfortable with losing.

"I know I've been saying that for a long time but I've got great belief in my own ability and my players that we'll get it right."

Jewell added: "We're four games into a new league season, we've got a brand new team, more or less, and yet people keep mentioning last year.

"It's not going to go away until we win a game.

"If it is the end of me as Derby County manager then I'll be desperately disappointed but I'm not looking at it that way."

Derby face Sheffield United at home on Saturday.
